Themes for MediaTech Festival 2027

How will the editorial workflow of the future look when speed is everything? This topic explores the integration of real-time data and automated workflows. We examine how news organizations are moving from manual monitoring to intelligent systems capable of spotting trends, extracting data, and generating graphics within seconds. It’s not just about saving time, but about freeing up editorial resources for in-depth journalism through technical precision.
In a world dominated by generative AI, the media industry faces a fundamental question: Who owns the value? This track explores the technical interface between AI models and “tokens.” We discuss how blockchain and tokenization can be used to secure copyright, track sources, and create new micropayment models for content. How do we ensure that the data used to train AI benefits creators in a decentralized media economy?
Digital transformation in the media industry is no longer about shifting from analog to digital. It’s about moving from hardware-heavy silos to software-defined architecture. This topic explores the fundamental transition from “broadcaster” to “tech company.” We examine how cloud-native production, IP-based infrastructure, and data-centricity are reshaping the way media platforms are built. How does one ensure technical scalability while transforming the organization’s DNA to think “code-first”?

Speakers at MediaTech Festival 2027

Articles from MTF2026 by SDU Students

MediaTech Festival 2026 has come to a close, and what a remarkable edition it was. As we at Media City Odense begin to wrap up this year’s festival, we’re excited to continue sharing some of the inspiring work it helped bring to life.

As one of our founding partners, the University of Southern Denmark has long played a central role in shaping the festival experience. Each year, we collaborate closely with their faculties to invite students into the heart of MediaTech Festival—giving them the opportunity to engage directly with the industry through hands-on projects.

In 2026, journalism students took on the task of covering the festival’s diverse lineup of speakers. The result is a compelling collection of articles that capture key insights, perspectives, and moments from MediaTech Festival 2026. Below, you can explore the work of these talented emerging journalists.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making MTF26 such a success; partners, speakers, participants, and attendees alike.

A special thank you goes to the University of Southern Denmark and its Department of Journalism. Your continued collaboration, enthusiasm, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of media and technology are invaluable. We are always proud to work alongside your students and greatly appreciate the energy and dedication they brought to this year’s festival.
